Ode To Hypocrisy (Iqbal's Ghazal)

                                     An Ode To Hypocrisy
                                      (Iqbal’s Ghazal)

The men inspired by zeal of faith built the mosque overnight,
Our own heart, the old sinner, couldnot be real Muslim in decades,

What a nice message Sannosi sent to emir Faisal!
Thou art a Hijazi by name and lineage, not by heart!

Though eyes become wet but no pleasure in weeping,
When torments faced couldnot turn tear-drop pink,

‘Iqbal’ is a big preacher, fascinates humans by his talks,
He is a hero of discourse, but not an ideal of character.

·        Emir Faisal, son of sheriff of Mecca, a stooge of the British, was nominated as ruler of Syria in March 1920. In April 1920 the League of the nations
allotted Syria to France. In 1921 he was nominated ruler of Iraq,
died in 1933.
·        Sheikh Syed Mohammed Idrees was the chief of the Sannosiya school
of theology, he along with his followers fought the invading Intalian forces at Tripoli in 1911 assissted by Ghazi Anwar Pasha of Turkey.
